New Residents - How to Sign-up

We are currently accepting Housing License Agreements for the 2016-2017 Academic Year & Summer 2016 Term.

To be considered for on-campus housing, you must first complete the Student Housing License Agreement (contract). Please read the information provided below before accessing the online portal.

HOUSING LICENSE AGREEMENT – AVAILABLE TERMS (OCCUPANCY PERIODS)

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Steps To Apply for Housing
 

STEP 1 – RECEIVING ACCESS TO THE HOUSING PORTAL AND LICENSE AGREEMENT
 
To be able to log on to the Housing Portal, you will use your "myCSULA" username and password, you MUST:

  • Have activated your "myCSULA" Identity (this information was provided to you at the time you applied to Cal State LA). Need assistance with activating your "myCSULA" Identity? Go to: https://id.calstatela.edu/user/anonmain.jsp
  • Be an admitted student and the Enrollment Confirmation Deposit (ECD) is required for First Year Students and must be paid prior to accessing the online contract. It is best to pay this as soon as possible and not wait for the May 2, 2016 deadline. It may take up to two weeks for access to the Housing portal to be granted after the ECD is paid.
  • As part of the Housing License Agreement, a payment of $ 140 is required to complete the process. Have payment information ready ($40 application fee and $ 100.00 security deposit) using a credit card or e-check).

STEP 2 – READ THE HOUSING LICENSE AGREEMENT AND STUDENT GUIDE
Your submission of the License Agreement requires that you have read and understood the terms and conditions for living on campus. Submitting the online contract is an electronic agreement to these terms and conditions.
If you are under eighteen (18), a signature of a parent or legal guardian is required. A link to the “Under the Age of 18 and Consent to Medical Treatment” form is provided as part of the online License Agreement.

STEP 3 – BE PREPARED - LEARN ABOUT YOUR HOUSING OPTIONS
Please take a few minutes to review your options of room type, meal plan, and payment plan in order to be ready to answer questions and make choices as part of your Housing License Agreement.
STEP 4 – YOU ARE READY TO COMPLETE THE LICENSE AGREEMENT ONLINE
Log on to the Housing Portal using you "myCSULA" username and password.

  • Select the term you are interested in - the Academic Year includes Fall, Intersession and Spring. The summer semester is a separate term.
  • Each page requires you to read information. Some pages require you to make choices. In order to complete the page, you must agree to the contents of each page, save and continue in order to proceed to the next page.
  • One of the last steps is to make your $ 140 initial payment.  You will be redirected to CashNet, the vendor the University uses for the collection of payment. Enter the credit card or e-check information and then return to the Housing Student Portal.
  • Complete the License Agreement.  You will see on the Housing Student Portal homepage a link confirming that your License Agreement has been submitted.

STEP 5 – SUBMITTING REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION AND PAYMENT
Your application will be considered COMPLETE once all of the following items are received. Assignments are contingent upon receiving all of the following:

First housing payment according to the payment plan selected on the License Agreement and Payment Schedule. Your first payment must be paid in order to receive an assignment.
 

RENTERS INSURANCE

CANCELLATION POLICY – 30 Day Notice Required
If your admission is rescinded, if you have decided not to attend Cal State LA or your plans change and no longer need housing, you MUST complete the online “Cancellation and Refund Request” form.

This form must be received in the Housing Office 30 days before the quarter/semester begins to qualify for a refund of housing fees, minus the application fee ($40.00) and cancellation fee ($50.00). Please refer to Section III.C. of the Housing Services License Agreement for details on the approval process for cancelling after move in.
ROOM ASSIGNMENT
Assignments are processed on a first-come, first-serve basis using the date your application file was completed. The earlier you submit your application materials and payment, the better your chances are for receiving an assignment and the room type of your choice.  

Special Accommodations for ADA students:  Housing Services has apartments to meet the needs of students with disabilities.  To request a housing accommodation you should complete the Housing Services License Agreement and then contact the Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD) and set up an appointment to review your request. You may contact the Housing Office with any questions regarding this process.
