Payment Plans

Payment Information


To complete your Housing License Agreement and be considered for a space, an initial payment of $140.00 is required. The initial fee consists of a non-refundable $40.00 application fee and a $100.00 security deposit that may be refundable at the end of your contract based on room condition.

Your first housing payment will be based on the payment plan you choose. The initial payment, program fee and first payment must be paid in order to receive an assignment.

A refundable security deposit of $100.00 is included in the initial payment.

All payments made after the due date will be assessed a $20.00 late fee.

A $16.00 program fee is added to your first payment for the academic year. Program fees are used for community programming, recreation equipment and social events. ($8 per semester and $4 for Summer)

There are four (4) payment plans available for housing residents to pay their housing and meal plan fees.  You will be asked to select one of these plans as part of your Housing License Agreement (contract).

Payment Plan Options for Housing and Meal Plans
  A. ACADEMIC YEAR (Full Payment)
Students who choose this option will pay for the entire academic year in one payment. By paying for housing and meal plan in one payment, there is no need to monitor payments throughout the year. The application fee is waived for the Academic Year payment plan
This plan allows students to make their payments once each semester, for a total of two payments for the academic year.

This plan is for students that anticipate receiving financial aid of any amount. This includes any type of grant, scholarship or loan, such as the Pell Grant, State University Grant (SUG), Educational Opportunity Grant (EOP), Stafford Loan, Perkins Loan, Cal Grant. All outstanding charges due to the University, including registration and housing charges are posted to your student account. Financial aid funds that are awarded will be applied directly to your student account. If you have any questions about your financial aid, please contact their office at (323) 323-6260.

IF your financial aid is not awarded, OR if the award does not cover all expenses, you will be required to pay the balance. Please check the payment schedule for amount due and due dates.

Financial aid recipients are expected to use their own funds for the $140 initial payment and any excess funds will be refunded during the scheduled financial aid disbursement dates as published in the class schedule.



This plan is designed to meet the needs of students who would prefer to have their payments made twice each semester, for a total of four payments for the academic year. Please follow the fee schedule for the dates that payments are due. Please note: This option is not available to International, English Language Program (ELP) and Study in LA or students with financial aid, since all financial aid disbursements are once per academic semester.



  1. Online (Master Card, AMEX, and Diner’s Club) at Students with access to "myCalStateLA" username and password may make payments online.
  2. Money Order, Personal Check or Cashier’s Check (endorsed by a US bank only)– mail to the Cashier’s Office. Make checks payable to: CSULA Housing Services

Write the student name, CIN (ID #) and Term for which you are applying (Fall, Winter or Spring) on the check/money order/cashier’s check and

  1. Cash Payments - If you plan to pay with cash, contact the Housing Services Office to obtain an Invoice and instructions on how to pay at the Cashier's Office. This assures that your payment will be applied for housing and meal plan charges.

With this invoice, please go to the University Cashier’s office to make your payment.  You will be provided a receipt. Please include a copy of your receipt when you submit your application materials to the Housing Office.

  1. If you cannot pay online or wish to pay by check or money order, please go to your bank and request a 'Cashier's Check" payable to Cal State LA Housing Services. Mail to: Housing Services
