International (F/J Visa) Applicants & the I-20 Process

Before the University can issue an I-20: Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant (F-1) Student Status-For Academic and Language Students, international (F/J visa) applicants must submit a completed CSULA International Student Financial Affidavit, with supporting financial documents, and a copy of your passport biographical page to the International Office.

The I-20 process is separate from the University Admissions process. You do not have to wait for an admissions decision prior to submitting the affidavit and supporting documents. If you are planning to attend Cal State L.A. upon offer of admission, please submit these documents to the International Office as soon as possible, and by no later than your desired admission term’s stated financial support documentation deadline. For specific deadlines, visit The affidavit and supporting documents should be submitted by the identified month/day prior to the start of your admission term. Documents received after these deadlines dates may delay the issuance of the I-20 needed for your visa application.

Please submit the CSULA International Student Financial Affidavit and all required items directly to the following address:

California State University, Los Angeles
International Office
