Under the direct supervision of the Chief Acquisitions Assistant, the main responsibilities of this position include processing and organizing the receiving of monographic materials, performing bibliographic searching in detail, ordering materials, and assisting with the training of other student assistant employees.
Other duties may include the technical processing of serial materials, preparation of bindery shipments for serials, photocopying, and other special projects as assigned. May serve as the supervisor of Class B student assistants in the area, in the absence of the staff member.
Student assistants must have knowledge of the OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) and the Internet; good typing skills; must be extremely accurate and able to learn and execute Library procedures. Must be able to perform heavy lifting (25 lbs average).
