Music and Media

Hours & General Information

The Media Center service desk (3rd floor, library north) is now CLOSED*

During the next several weeks we will be in the process of moving all of the media collections from the 3rd floor to the 1st floor (Circulation Desk).  Beginning in the Fall Quarter of 2014 the Circulation Desk will be the central location for checking out ALL circulating library materials (books, media, & course reserve items).

* If you need to check-out media materials please request them at the Circulation Desk and they will be retrieved for you.

Please Note:  All Course Reserve Items (including media) are already located at the Circulation Desk (1st floor)

About the Music & Media Collections

The library's media collections cover a wide range of subjects which support the University curriculum.  They are used by faculty in the classroom and students for class-related assignments and research projects.  While the media collection does contain popular works (i.e. Hollywood feature-films and popular sound recordings), they are purchased to support specific programs and courses of study at the University and therefore have limited circulation outside the library.  See Policies & Use of Collections for more information.  The library media collections include approx. 5,000 sound recordings and more than 4,000 DVDs.  We now also have a number of "streaming media" resources included in our collection of online databases.
