Library E-mail Notices

The Library will now send you circulation notices by e-mail. We have added Network/E-mail e-mail addresses to most student patron records. E-mail notification will be used throughout the year, including breaks, holidays, and Summer Quarter.

Who's Included

All Library patrons with a current Library card or campus Golden Eagle ID card are eligible for this service. If there is no e-mail address in your Library record, you will continue to receive all notices by regular mail.

Some new students, all faculty and staff, and other non-student categories of Library card holders will not yet have e-mail addresses in their records. Those individuals should go to the Loan Desk to have their e-mail address added.

What's Included

Right now, all notices will continue to be mailed in print form. Starting Jan.2, 2001, the types of notices listed below will also be sent via e-mail. After the end of Winter Quarter 2001, e-mail notices only will be sent for the types of notices listed below.

E-mailed only:

  • Overdue notices
  • Pickup notices for holds
  • Hold cancellation notices
  • Quarterly statements of charges

Notices to be both e-mailed and sent via U.S. or campus mail:

  • Recall notices

Notices sent only via campus or U.S. mail

  • Bills, including invoices for lost or unreturned materials, statements for overdue fines, etc.

Campus Network/E-mail Accounts

All CSULA students, faculty, and staff are eligible to have campus Network/E-mail accounts. If you do not have one, please click on the link for more information. CSULA students have 10MB of space for email. This storage space exceeds that of major free email services such as Yahoo (6MB), Hotmail (2MB), and Excite (3MB). CSULA student email, Webmail, is completely advertisement free! You have access to your email anytime, anywhere using a web browser. More and more you can expect other divisions of the University to use your official CSULA email address to correspond with you.

If you do desire to use another service's email account, you can easily forward your email from your CSULA email account to another account. Click here for info on how to do it.

Non-CSULA Users and Questions

For the following circumstances, you need to go to the Loan Desk on the 1st floor of Library North:

  • If you need to have your Network/E-mail address added to your Library record

  • If you are not eligible for an Network/E-mail account, but have an e-mail account with an Internet Service Provider, request that your e-mail address be added to your Library record. You will need to provide the complete e-mail address, e.g. Myname@aol.com

  • If you need to cancel your e-mail notification completely
