Microsoft Product License Activation and Renewal from Off Campus


The campus KMS activation server is reachable only from within the CSULA network. However, you can still activate via KMS from off-campus by connection to CSULA with our Virtual Private Network (VPN) service. You must connect to http://vpnla.calstatela.edu before following the steps shown below. Windows 7 Operating System

To activate or renew a Windows 7 licenses, follow this procedure:

  1. Right-click on Start and select Windows Explorer
  2. Find C:\Winbatch.32\Windows7Ent-KMS-Lite.bat.
  3. Right-click on the file and select Run as administrator.
  4. Check if your product is activated. Go to Start → right-click on Computer → Properties.
  5. The bottom right-hand corner of that property page should show the following:



Microsoft Office Suite

To activate or renew Microsoft Office Suite, follow this procedure:

The general procedure is as follows:

  1. Right-click on Start and select Windows Explorer
  2. Find C:\Winbatch.32\Office2010KMS-Lite (64-bit).bat.
  3. Right-click on the file and select Run as administrator.
  4. Launch Word.
  5. Check if your product is activated. Pull-down File → Help.
  6. If Office has been activated or renewed the right-hand side of the Help menu should look like the following:
