Well, moving from Texas for 8 weeks was a big step because itís a long time away from home. But as soon as I got to California and met the other 19 apprentices I felt fight at home. Everyday was a journey in itself cause something new came up everyday which made it better that the previous. Living amongst peers that have similar dreams and goals really brought the group close together. Living in California for 8 weeks was awesome because 96% of the time the weather was comfortable. If I had a second chance to experience NASA SHARP I would most definitely sign up because this is one of those experiences of a life time.

What did you think about living in your apartment?

My Apartment was awesome because we had video games, homemade food, and tons of fun. Chris and I were the main cooks for our apartment.

What did you learn from being in an apartment with other people?

If everyone does their part when they are scheduled to do it then there is more free time. Playing video games can become competitive, but we managed to still have fun.

Describe what you did and learned at your summer work site.

First of all I worked at Boeing Integrated Defense Systems (BIDS) at Huntington Beach California and I worked in the Component Engineering Department. I learned that a working environment must be as efficient as possible and that safety always comes first. At work I got to test equipment and record the given data, which gave me hands on experience within the Failure Analysis division at Boeing. Working with experts in a certain field helped improve my working ethics, and gave me confidence because I could understand everything they were doing and could converse with them at a professional level.

What was your favorite experience at NASA SHARP?

Everyday was different from the one before and we had many fun activities like visiting Disneyland, JPL, and the Dryden Flight Research Center, but my most favorite experience would have to have been at the beaches because we played volleyball as a group, swam in the Pacific Ocean, and buried individuals is the sand. The best beach was the San Diego Beach because Chris, Ray, and I buried Steven and gave him a sand body which was totally awesome.
