Club Activities 2006-2007

The Chinese Culture Club has been very active in its inaugural year. The Club President, Andrew McKinn, remarked: "The CCClub has steadily grown to become a focal point on campus for those students and faculty interested in Chinese culture. Club activities this year include movies, mahjong, chess, calligraphy, karaoke, and various foods--all related to Chinese, of course! The Club has also participated in campus events such as the University's Welcome Week, Eagle Fest, VIP Day, Lunar New Year Celebration, and Chinese Poetry Contest. The Club also pays attention to external outreach by welcoming international students to our University or by simply staying alert to important news in Chinese-speaking communities." Three of our members, Edward Chinen, Lisa Duong, and Yi Lu, attended a conference on the Twenty-First Century Perspectives on China at the Huntington Library on May 26, 2007. Additionally, Club members have regular dynamic discussions through the Club's Facebook that serves as a social networking website for them. Finally, the Club congratulates President McKinn for winning the 2007 Collegiate National Billiards Championship held at the Minnesota State University at Mankato!
