Unit Overview

 The purpose of this unit plan is for students to learn how and why Westward Expansion is an important part of the history of the United States. Westward expansion not only greatly increased the United Statesí territory, but it is also a very important aspect when discussing the causes of the Civil War. Due to the content, this unit is to be taught in an eighth grade United States History class.
