INTRODUCTION

As a bilingual speech-language pathologist, I became very interested in child language disorders and bilingual children with and without language impairments. My research focuses on Spanish-English preschoolers with and without specific language impairment.

I enjoy teaching child language development, child language disorders, and bilingual issues in the field of speech-language pathology and special education.

RESEARCH

My research focuses on the grammatical abilities of children with and without specific language impairment who speak Spanish and English. I hope to elucidate shared features of specific language impairment across languages. In addition, I am particularly interested in the development of English as a second language in children with and without language disorders, in order to improve the clinical assessment, treatment, and general instruction of English Language Learners with special needs.
