IntroductionThe Charter College of Education (CCOE) at California State University Los Angeles (CSULA) prepares educators to serve the culturally and linguistically diverse population of urban schools and related institutions. The Division of Special Education and Counseling at CSULA offers intern credentials in the following programs:
- Mild to Moderate Disabilities
- Moderate to Severe Disabilities
- Early Childhood
- Physical and Health Impairments
- Visual Impairments
Support and Mentorship:Interns receive support and supervision from a university supervisor every quarter that they are participants in the Intern Program. Interns enroll in either EDSP 495 Intern Supervision Seminar, EDSP 407 Directed Teaching, or EDSP 489 Demonstration of Teaching Competencies, and receive constructive feedback to guide the development of the teacher performance expectations for special educators. Interns also receive continuous support and supervision from the employing district or school through district professional development activities and an assigned Support Provider who works with the intern to support their day to day teaching in the classroom.
