The Office of Public Affairs at CSLA provides a listing of "experts" at Cal State LA in a variety of areas and on a variety of topics, from AIDS to Zoology.

The faculty of CKAKS welcomes inquires from journalists and others on issues related to the Korean American community and on Korean politics, economics, and society.

CKAKS faculty have been interviewed by the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times, CNN, Newsweek, the San Francisco Chronicle, U.S. News and World Reports, and many other media organizations.

Eui-Young YuProfessor Eui-Young "Jim" Yu is a graduate of Seoul National University (B.A) and the University of Pennsylvania (M.A. and Ph.D.). Dr. Yu is an often-quoted expert and has written many books and articles on Korean demography and the Korean American community. He frequently lectures on the Korean community in America, and his most recent studies detail the changes in L.A.'s Korean Community. Dr. Yu was formerly the director of the University's Institute for Asian-American and Pacific Asian Studies. He was a recipient of Cal State L.A.'s Outstanding Professor Award for 1984-85. Outside of Cal State LA, Dr. You has served (or is currently serving) leading roles in a variety of organizations, including: Chairman of the Economic Research Council; Korean American Economic Development Center, the Director of the Korean American Coalition-Census Information Center; Board Member, Korean Institute of Southern California; Founding President, Korean American Museum, and Chairman, Koreatown Emergency Relief Committtee of the Victims of Sa-I-Gu riots.


professor lim with daughterProfessor Timothy Lim* is a graduate of the University of Hawaii at Manoa (Ph.D.) and Columbia University (M.A). His primary areas of research on Korean political economy, transnational migration to Korea (and other parts of Northeast Asia), and human trafficking and smuggling. His most recent research focuses on the challenges and prospects of multiculturalism and Korean national identity. Dr. Lim's recent book, Doing Comparative Politics, is one of the leading textbooks on comparative politics in the United States (originally published in 2006, it reached its third printing by the end of 2007). Dr. Lim is on the editorial board of Korean Studies, the Open Area Studies Journal, and E-Aspac. He is also a former Fulbright scholar (2005-06 and 1995-96) and was a visiting professor at Korea University.
