POSITION: Graduate Assistant
STARTING DATE: Beginning Fall quarter 2013 through the end of spring quarter 2014.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Degree-seeking graduate student in the Department of Geosciences & Environment, but will consider seniors.
Graduate Assistants (or seniors) must be registered in a CSU graduate (or undergraduate) degree program and must be enrolled in courses towards the completion of that graduate (or undergraduate) degree during the appointment period. Applicants should have the ability to relate well to others within the academic environment, and demonstrate ability and/or interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Good library research, computer skills (basic programs), data analysis (statistical analysis, spreadsheets), writing, people/social skills as well as an ability to work collaboratively with other students is essential.
HIRING CRITERIA: Two students will be hired based on qualifications and ability to work in collaboration with other students and faculty. Notice of this position will be posted on the HRM website only.
DUTIES: Under the general supervision of the faculty member(s), the Graduate Assistant will assist faculty with research in collecting and analyzing climate/meteorological data. He/she may also be involved in field work, such as weather monitoring. He/she will also be involved in writing up research results and possibly presenting results at student research conferences.
SALARY: Current Graduate Assistant rate for an average of 12 hours per week, at a rate of $15.83/hr.
