Dear ECST Students,

ECST week is coming up!  National Engineers Week is observed by more than 70 engineering, education, and cultural societies, and more than 50 corporations and government agencies. The purpose of National Engineers Week is to call attention to the contributions to society that engineers make. It is also a time for engineers to emphasize the importance of learning math, science, and technical skills.  In ECST, we show our spirit and pride especially during this week!!!

In order to finalize the schedule, we will be working in the next couple of weeks with all the ECST student organizations to get the information of the  activities they will host during ECST Week.  We have already started developing the following schedule which includes several activities you can participate in.  This information will be sent to all student organization leaders. Please review it and register for the workshops and the NASA Downlink event! You don’t have to be part of a student organization to attend.  However, if you have not signed-up for a student organization yet, make sure to visit the resource fair on Wednesday and get more information about our various student organizations and get involved!

*Each student organization is responsible for planning at least one activity.  Make sure to let me know what your organization will be doing on this day so that we can finalize the student organization activity calendar.  Register your student organization activity at the link provided above by Friday, February 7th, 2014.

**Each student organization is responsible for hosting an info table during the Resource Fair to showcase their purpose, activities, and projects.  One table and two chairs will be provided.  The table and project must be set up by 9:45 a.m. in the ECST Courtyard.  The project will be set-up by ECST staff. High school students participating in Outreach Day at CSULA and the ECST Tours will also stop by your table between 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. to learn about your organization.  This is also another opportunity for current ECST students who have not joined your organization to get information and sign-up.  Make sure to find at least one or two members who are knowledgeable about your organization project (i.e. concrete canoe, steel bridge, Min-Baja, FORMULA, etc..) to share overall information with students as they visit your table.  Also, ASI will be contacting you to encourage you to participate in a student organization competition during the resource fair. Great prizes will be available for the student organization winner(s) the following day!!

***Student will have the opportunity to go live on Feb. 20th with NASA astronauts in space at CSULA!!!  More information is forthcoming on a separate email.  Register today and stay tuned for more information!

****Make sure to wear your student organization T-Shirt and join us to take pictures with your student organization members, Dean Allen, faculty, and staff in the ECST Courtyard (outside of the A-Wing entrance).  Please urge your members to attend the picture session.  ASI will be announcing the student organization competition winner(s) (for the competition held the day before during the resource fair) after the pictures and they will also provide refreshments in the ECST Courtyard! Don’t miss out!
