The AAAS Scholars Lecture Series Winter 12 Lecture (2/21/2012)
The Winter-12 Lecture, entitled "Redemptive Poetics of the Sent-down Youth in Post-Mao China", was successfully delivered by Dr. Yanjie Wang of Loyola Marymount University. In the lecture, Dr. Wang presented a brief history of the Sent-down Youth Movement during the Chinese Cultural Revolution (1966-76) as well as an in-depth analysis of the haunting effect of the youth’s experience as illuminated in the Chinese film "The Postmodern Life of My Aunt" (2006). The lecture, attended by more than 40 faculty and students, was followed by lively discussions and comments.
